Bishop's won the Baggataway Cup for Canadian university lacrosse supremacy last weekend, November 6th. In doing so, they become the first Quebec based team to ever win it all in the leagues 26 year history.
Bishop's had the toughest route to the final at this year's final six weekend.
Friday they defeated the home town Western Mustangs 8-4. A couple of local Toronto boys, Bishop's - Gareth Gibson, and Western's - Dylan Ham scored two goals each in this game.
Saturday they beat out Guelph, overcoming an 11-7 deficit with 4 late goals to win 12-11. Guelph ran into penalty issues, playing the last 1:31 two men short and Bishop's jumped on that with 3 goals, including the winner by Mike Dube with 15 seconds left.
Sunday was Championship day versus Brock Badgers, who had defeated McGill 13-11 on Saturday. Bishop's busted out with 4 early goals but the Badgers fought back to tie it. Late in the 3rd, the Gaiters broke it open again and never looked back, winning 11-6 and the coveted Cup.
